As a Biologist if the Following Two Elements are True Gileyna is Dead in the Water.....Eventual FDA Pulling of the Drug???
Posted by forensicdr on ELN, 1/23/2012 at 2:45:28 PMDear IV, I already predicted problems with Gileyna based on its broad mechanism of action (see prior posts). Sure enough they have surfaced. Now I will go one step further if the following hold true: 1. The cardiac events are under-reported. There have been several heart attacks and because this medication is taken by the patients in their homes, these events I would bet have been under-reported. I believe as these stories of troubles surface with heart events, others will come forward to report deaths that will turn out to be related to Gileyna. Bottom line is these events likely occur at a higher frequency than seen in the ... continue reading.
A great discussion with Leanne.....
Posted by Oiljack on Oil and Gas Discussion BB, 1/19/2012 at 9:57:09 PM* we usually chat on a regular basis and I gain a lot of insights and confirmation for some of my own thoughts from said discussions.
* I thought I would briefly touch on two central ideas or investment tenaments that we both have for 2012. Especially since they appear to be working thus far.
* we both discussed in great detail and agreed that we want to be in high quality stocks at attractive entry points that are not seen to be overly speculative in nature and that also appear, to us at least, to be mis-priced.
* we came ... continue reading.
Large cap biotech - relative valuations
Posted by cmm3rd on CELG, 1/20/2012 at 11:49:21 PMIn light of BIIB's spectacular run in 2011, I decided to calculate and compare current valuations of large cap biotechs using 2011 and 2012 earnings estimates. Although using just 2012 estimates is admittedly limiting, doing so should be less likely to introduce error in forward earnings estimates and perhaps better represent what "show me" investors may be considering today. While the result was not surprising, the degree to which Celgene stands out as the most undervalued, as measured by 2012 PEG, was a surprise.
All earnings numbers are from Yahoo Finance, except Celgene's 2012, for ... continue reading.
Pressure pumping capacity
Posted by Nawaralsaadi on BRY, 1/25/2012 at 12:52:34 AMHalliburton, Schlumberger Ltd., Baker Hughes Inc.s BJ Services unit and FTS International Inc control 56% of the market: http://business.financialpost.com/2012/01/20/fracking-market-to-grow- 19-to-us37bn-worldwide-in-2012/?__lsa=b5dcd663 This capacity concentration has two effects: 1. Pricing is less flexible than actually perceived. 2. Tracking capacity at those four companies will provide insight on the industry capacity trends as a whole. FTS is private, so lets check what the other public ones are doing: Halliburton (20% of the market): - No capacity additions in 2012. - Moving capacity to international ... continue reading.
Still here
Posted by exptwtness on AMLN, 1/8/2012 at 11:00:53 AMSaw a few posts this morning wondering if I am still an Amylin long. The answer is yes, absolutely. I am still long because both in terms of efficacy and convenience, Bydureon is be the best drug for the majority of type 2 diabetics. Depending upon which studies are examined, Bydureon either has considerably better nausea rates than Victoza with slightly lower blood sugar lowering, or it has better blood sugar lowering and similar nausea rates. Either combination in conjunction with once a week dosing instead of once a day dosing should be a winner. Once a week dosing could substantially open ... continue reading.
