High frequency traders win againLooks like the HFT crowd wins again. Rather than releasing key economic reports to all comers at the same time, as the government tries to do, some non-government entities are cutting deals to release data early to HFT traders.
To my simple mind, these milliseconds of advantage are the equivalent of knowing the results of a horse race while others are still placing bets. (Am into a book on LAPD in the 40's and 50's. This is what the crooked bookies used to do. Except, in the 40's and 50's the crooked bookies got shot for it when their marks found out. Making lots of work for the Sgt Fridays of the era.)
Yeah, I know I'm naive in thinking securities markets should be transparent and fair.
Investment spin: winners are identified as news agencies (Thompson Reuters, Newscorp aka The Wall Street Journal ) and data center operators, like AT&T
Just my opinion.
