Re: A New Dawn for Solar Hey yahearme...cocopah
I hear ya and admire your effort and dedication into your home. We pioneered our house from skidding out all the trees, cutting the lumber at saw mill. planing and drying lumber for two years in piles. No contractor and built this home with own hands except for some electrical and plumbing. Back up everything including generator for failed power. Sometimes I wonder if it was all the effort cause while we worked friends vacationed etc....
I know of one couple who are totally self sufficient...solar...wind and also grow all their own food, milk...meat. Never see a grocery store and off the grid. But that is their total stay at home life style.
Others choose to spend a great deal of money on solar but are not hooked up to it and sell it to hydro for $$$$. Initial cost for one couple I know was 80 grand but won't realize a profit for 10 12 years and by that time he could be below the flower bed. Many are upset that we tax payers have subsidized the person in order for them to do this.
That being said the more "Power" to you both. If it wasn't for pioneers like you we would still be living in the stone age.
