Re: Climate Change UpdateNice one rupert! The comments you posted show just exactly why we need a true scientific understanding of what are short term cyclical events (and fears) and what are longer term trends that signify something truly worth worrying about - and something quite different. See my post on science verses opinion and common sense. Also please note that back in 1922 there was very little general understanding of Milankovich cycles, very little reliable data to work with and very much reliance on anecdotal (opinions anyone?) evidence rather than deep science. Its always far more fun jumping to conclusions rather than digging for facts. Just like all such anecdotal evidence and observations - and the motional fears associated with holding them - a little bit of real science using better data soon puts them in their rightful place. We must beware of such nonsense too in modern times - but there's the rub - distinguishing between real science and "opinions" gets tougher and tougher all the time - and it is always hard work! But an interesting and cautionary anecdote - and one that I am sure all real scientists will get a chuckle out of - and all those with an agenda will point to as being yet another reason to distrust those awful scientists LOL!
